The FY 2009/2010 TRIF RFP is available now. Click here is access it in PDF format. The deadline for proposal submission is March 27, 2009. Note there is a new funding category in addition to those in last year's RFP related to curriculum development. Currently all proposals are being solicited by the Growing Biotechnology Initiative (GBI) and Environmental Research Development and Education for the New Economy (ERDENE) programs.
Proposal Review Process - After the proposal due date, March 27, 2009, the proposals are subject to the following review process
- Proposals sent for full outside review based on metrics outlined in the RFP.
- External review committee meets to discuss each proposal and make recommendations.
- Funding recommendations to NAU Research Advisory Committee.
- Final recommendations reviewed by Vice Provost for Research, Provost, and President.
- Notification of awards tentatively set for May, 2009.
Reporting Process - Funded investigators are expected to submit yearly reports describing accomplishments and deliverables achieved for the previous year. Please see the Reporting page of this site for more complete information on the report process.
Future Proposals
SABRE will focus on proposals in the following broad categories
- Cancer
- Bioengineering
- Neurosciences
- Infectious Diseases
- Diabetes
These categories closely mirror the near-term focus areas outlined in the Flinn Foundation report, the Arizona Bioscience Roadmap. Other categories or sub-categories contained within the report include organic chemicals, drugs and pharmaceuticals, medical devices and instruments, research and testing and others. Please read this report for an overview of potentially fundable projects.
Projects funded under the SABRE program are highly focused on "deliverables." These deliverables include workforce development, development of intellectual property (patentable ideas), leveraging of external grants and contracts, and educational development, and others.
