The Strategic Alliance for Bioscience Research and Education (SABRE) is a consortium of of NAU faculty and staff, Northern Arizona business, government, and entrepreneurs engaged in interdisciplinary research and education in the broad areas of bioscience, biotechnology and bioengineering. These endeavors are largely focused on leveraging bioscience research and education into workforce and economic development in Northern Arizona.
Arizona's "New Economy" will focus on knowledge-based contributions to economic growth, including major initiatives in the growing areas of bioscience, biotechnology, and bioengineering. As a major first step towards this new economy, the Flinn Foundation has commissioned Batelle to produce the Arizona Bioscience Roadmap. This Roadmap identifies key areas of high potential growth and economic opportunity in the biosciences. In addition to The Batelle Bioscience Roadmap, Arizona has also recently incorporated Science Foundation Arizona (SFA). SFA will act as a statewide clearinghouse to channel funds into research and development directly related to the Arizona New Economy.
Working with our partners in government, industry, and education, SABRE helps researchers in the biosciences and related fields contribute to the Arizona New Economy through research, development of ideas, intellectual property protection, licensing, technology transfer, and business start-ups.
